Keyboard player practicing for songwriting contestsMerely entering a song writing contests gives us a feeling of accomplishment because of the effort we put in crafting a song and the painstaking experience of recording our little masterpieces. If we win song writing contests, well, that's icing on the cake.

I have only entered two local songwriting contests (winning 1st place once) in my career as a songwriter, and I must say it was the most exciting, satisfying feeling even though the grand prize was only a dinner for two at a local restaurant. I eventually got food poisoning when I cashed in my prize-musta' been the red snapper. But I'll never forget the satisfaction of winning that songwriting contest because of something original I created.

Folks, never for a moment should you think you're not as good as other songwriters out there and that you don't have a chance of winning songwriting contests. You can do it. It can be done. It's been done!

Here's a fact to chew on for non-believers and skeptics, and some motivational medicine for you starry-eyed, ambitious songwriters: When I finished my first demo I shopped it and got signed to a staff songwriter deal by Warner/Chappell on the first try! If I can do it, so can you!

Yes, there was luck involved. But there was more talent than luck involved, and nobody would have discovered me had I not been aggressive in putting my songs out there. A great way to get discovered or expose your music is to GET YOUR SONGS HEARD by industry professionals through various top-notch, legitimate song writing contests. Please Bookmark This Site
